Philly Beer Geek, 2010--Final Competition
Here are some pictures from 2010's Philly Beer Geek finals. Details about the event are available at the Philly Beer Geek Web site.
The contestants, in random order:
 Mike "Dump Bucket" Lessa
Daniel "Man Full of Trouble" Berlin
 Jessi "Schwartzbier Frau" Black
 Steve "The Human Growler" Hawk
 Mike "Bierwmikester" Gretz
 Katherine "The Beeranthropist" Stewart
The hosts, Jason Harris (Keystone Homebrew Supply) and Carolyn Smagalski (Beer Fox):

The honorable judges (from left), Don Russell, Doug Marchakitus, Lew Bryson, (bottom picture) Jack Curtin, Bryan Kolesar.

Jason and Carolyn started off with trivia rounds

Then the judges eached asked personalized questions for each contestant. Lew Bryson was in rare form.

Which cracked up Jessi Black, but her response was even funnier.
During a break the hosts prepare the tasting tests for contestants and judges.

And finally, the contestants were asked to campaign for their favorite beer for Philly Mayor. (Beer logic here, stay with us.) Each gave a rousing political speech, complete with graft (beauties serving more beer to judges?!), hoopla (below!), and unfulfillable promises!

Judge Jack Curtin led the crowd in giving all the contestants a standing ovation for their outstanding performance. But in the end, there can be only one Philly Beer Geek 2010, which was awarded to The Human Growler, Steve Hawk, representing the Hulmeville Inn.
 ...and the crowd goes wild.
 Congratulations all around.
