Order Deadline: RJ Spagnols Argentinian Torrontes

WAR OF THE WORTS XV: Saturday, February 20
It’s nearly 2010! By the time we even realize that we’re delinquent on our New Year’s resolutions, the 15th Annual War of the Worts will be upon us. What better way to usher in the new decade than with such a momentous homebrew competition? Now is the time to be brewing so you’ll be ready to compete for the best prizes in the region’s biggest homebrew contest. The WOTW is sanctioned by the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), and we do need BJCP-certified judges to help us evaluate the 500+ entries we’re expecting this year. This is the first qualifying competition in 2010 for two major cumulative awards: the Keystone Cup and the Eastern Pennsylvania Homebrewer of the Year. Enter your best beers for fun, expert feedback, bragging rights, great prizes, the thrill of competition, and club pride! We will be accepting entries from Saturday, January 23 until Sunday, February 7. Check out the link below for more information, including entry forms and judge registration forms. http://www.keystonehops.org/wotw/

BEER JUDGE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
If you are interested in becoming a BJCP-certified judge, our study sessions begin Monday, January 4. Participants will be able to judge at the War of the Worts on Saturday, February 20. To sign up, please send an email to bjcp@keystonehomebrew.com. For more information, check out our latest newsletter and the official BJCP Web site: http://www.keystonehomebrew.com/holiday2009news.pdf http://www.bjcp.org/index.php

DEADLINE TO ORDER RJ SPAGNOLS RESTRICTED QUANTITY WINE KIT
This Tuesday, December 29 is the deadline to preorder the Argentinian Torrontes RQ wine kit from RJ Spagnols, arriving in February. The signature white grape of Argentina, related to Muscat, is one of the “aromatic varietals” distinctive to Argentina, and grown nowhere else in the world. While the wine’s bouquet is rich with tropical fruits, honey, and sweet floral notes, the flavor is unexpectedly crisp and refreshing with a vibrant acidity, citrus notes, and a hint of spice with an enduring finish. You can call either of our stores or order through our Web site. The Torrontes sells for $119.95. A $50 deposit will be required at the time of your order. Both stores will be open until 4:00 PM on New Year’s Eve, and closed on New Year’s Day.
