Barrel Brew Championship 2015

Okay clubbers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties cause there’s beer ready to be tasted! When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a barrel of beer bleak and dark and bereft of drinking. Yet we know that barrel is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the homebrewers of Pennsylvania and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn’t imagine a better fate than a beautifully crafted barrel-aged beer.

Okay okay, enough Ground Hog Day references. The beer has been brewed, the beer has been aged. The beer has been…… probably secretly sung to and cuddled with. The time is nigh, yes nigh, to crown a champion.

On July 19th, 2014, very special beer was brewed upon this Earth.

And on April 11th 2015, eleven unique and equally dedicated homebrew clubs will be pouring their brewed beverage that was carefully aged in premium red wine barrels. The styles of beer that were brewed were as unique as the clubs themselves. Running the gamut from a hop forward Porter, to Belgian-style sour ale. The awards ceremony on April 11th, will mix the most dedicated homebrewers in our fair parts, along with a celebrity panel of judges to decide the homebrew club that will walk away, well, walk a little ways at least, with $500 in Keystone Homebrew gift certificates. Scott Rudich, Carolyn Smagalski, Erin Wallace, Tara Nurin, Gary Monterosso, & Mat Falco, all esteemed colleagues in this thing we call brewing good beer, will decide whose scrumptious suds will take home the prize.

We invite everyone to come and partake in the sampling and you can judge for yourself. Meet the brewers who made the beer, learn tips and tricks, and maybe even find a home in a homebrew club you never knew existed!

Beer, Barrels, Homebrewers, Party, Beer-Celebrities, Food——All against a backdrop of a state of the art Winery (with wine and hard cider)….This is not to be missed!
