5.0-8.0% alpha. Grows well in all climates. A triploid aroma hop released in 1989 from the USDA breeding program in Corvalis, Oregon. Daughter of Hallertauer Mittelfruh and a sister to Liberty with an analytical profile similar to both. Also displays charasteristics similar to Hersbrucker.
Mt. Hood has low levels of alpha and beta acids, high humulene content in the essential oils. Imparts a soft, clean bitterness to beer and a somewhat herbal aroma character. Sometimes used for dry hopping and essential oil/emulsion.
