Philly Beer Week

Here are some of the exciting things we have planned for Philly Beer Week 2014:

Beer Flavor Training   oVER & dONE

Montgomeryville Store: Thursday, May 29, 5:00 – 7:00PM
We want to help you evaluate your homebrew (not to mention all those beers you’ll be sampling during Philly Beer Week) like a pro! Using a special flavor training kit, we will give you a taste of the common flaws found in beer and an explanation of what causes them. This invaluable session will allow you to talk knowledgeably with craft brewers and critics, and will help you serve your own beer with confidence. Sign up online; check in at the front counter to be admitted to the event.

Twitter Hunt

Compete for fame and fabulous prizes in Keystone’s Philly Beer Week Twitter Hunt! Here’s how it works. A list of people, places, and random doohickies―each worth a specified number of points—will be released via Twitter (and our website) on May 30, the first day of Philly Beer Week. Then the hunt is on, and will last until the final pint is pulled on June 8. We’ll have a page up soon with detailed rules and a list of objectives, and once the contest starts we’ll record your score and update our online leaderboard nightly. The participant with the most points by the end of Philly Beer Week will win a $100 gift certificate!

pOKER nIGHT

Montgomeryville store: Friday, June 6, 6:30pm
As a homebrewer, you know you have the beverage side of a good party down. Well now we’re adding gambling – you’ll be just one vice short of a trifecta! The game is Texas Hold’em, and the prizes are real enough (gift certificates: $100, $50, and $25 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd), but this isn’t really gambling. Your buy-in is simply a canned food (or cash) donation of your choosing, which we will pass on as a donation to Manna on Main. Just so we’re clear, though – on Friday, June 6, you’re going to tell your significant other that you have to  go to Keystone to gamble and drink beer. Got it? Good.

All Grain Brewing Class

Have you been thinking of making the jump to all-grain brewing, or wanting to improve your techniques? Our all grain brewing class can help you learn to brew like a pro. Expect the class to run from 10 A.M. to around 3 P.M. with a live brewing demonstration by the instructor. Lunch will be provided.
