Liberty is a triploid aroma cultivar derived from a Hallertauer Mittelfruh female and a downy mildew resistant male. It is the half sister of Ultra, Mt Hood, and Crystal. Characterized by a mild and pleasant aroma with a fruity/floral character similar to imported German aroma varieties. Released in the United States in 1991, primarily in Washington state. Sometimes used for dry-hopping and for essential oil/emulsion.
Liberty hops are described with noble, delicate, floral bouquet and spice. It displays mild floral and spice characteristics with some subtle citrus notes.
