We have over 500 entries for 2009. We could still use BJCP judges; if you haven’t registered, please do it before Wednesday noon so we can email you first session judging assignment. http://www.fofa.org/WotW/judgereg.php.
The awards ceremony will be at Iron Hill North Wales starting around 5PM. Come and see if you won, pick up your scores, try some of Larry’s super secret stash of beer (sour, wood-aged, award winning…), and join in the festivities.
EASTERN PA HOMEBREWER OF THE YEAR
Announcing the Eastern PA Homebrewer of the Year (EPHY) competition. This is a multi-competition individual award for the most winning homebrewer. War of the Worts is the 1st competition of the 2009 EPHY. The official rules are listed at the end of this email.
KEYSTONE HOPS CLUB MEETING Thursday, 2/19, 7PM
Come to our Montgomeryville store at 7PM this Thursday for the Keystone Hops Homebrew Club meeting. We’ll be sorting War of the Worts entries (and sharing homebrews) early, then we’ll transport the entries down to Iron Hill to finish the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend, so bring some homebrews, and help us get ready for the area’s biggest and baddest homebrew competition!

We need more preliminary round locations. EPHY OFFICIAL RULES
The EPHY will be awarded to the homebrewer with the most cumulative points from the four following competitions:
War of the Worts
Buzz-off
Malt Madness
Stoney Creek Homebrewer’s Amateur Brewing Championship
Number of entries is unlimited but only the top four results for each individual will be used from each competition:
1st place – 5 points
2nd place – 3 points
3rd place – 1 point
Best of Show (BOS) awards will be added to the total as a bonus:
BOS- 5 points
2nd BOS – 3 points
3rd BOS – 1 point
Ties will be decided by more BOS awards, or if that is not a factor then more 1st places, then more 2nd places, then 3rds. If all that is equal, co-champions will be named.
For example, If no BOS:
9 firsts, 2 seconds, 3 thirds = 54 total would beat
8 firsts, 3 seconds, 5 thirds = 54 total
Additional notes:
The same beer can be entered in as many competitions as you wish. Contest is open to individuals living in or out of Pennsylvania.
