Winemaker Magazine Competition

SOUTH AMERICAN GRAPES UPDATE
Available by pre-order only, and only in Montgomeryville It’s time for the grape harvest! We know that sounds strange, but they do everything backwards in the southern hemisphere. The grapes will be picked this weekend, so if you want to make wine from fresh grapes this spring, you need to place an order with us by this Thursday, March 5, at 12 noon. We will be getting four varieties from Argentina: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Bonarda. These are the only grapes we will getting this year (sorry . no juice!); Merlot and Tempranilla have already been picked, so they won’t be available to us. The grapes cost $26 per 22-lb. lug (each makes about 1.5 gallons); we need a 50% deposit to secure your order. Call, stop by or order online at http://www.keystonehomebrew.com/index.cfm?pgid=wineorder_2009_a

SPRING TRAINING
It’s easy to make wine, but Dave Salaba, our UC Davis-certified winemaker, teaches a few classes that can help you hit a home run every time. Each class will require a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 12. Dave’s classes often sell out early, so if you’re interested, sign up ASAP . you won’t be disappointed!

Additionally, all participants will receive a binder that contains detailed up-to-the-minute reference materials about the latest winemaking practices and all the tests we will be conducting, which alone is essentially worth the class fee of $125.

WINEMAKER MAGAZINE COMPETITION

(Of course you still need to pay the competition entry fee.) This is your chance to get valuable feedback from experienced judges, while competing for medals and international recognition. Just drop off your entries, along with a completed entry form and fee, at either of our stores no later than Monday, March 9.
